Still life..

Contemplative

Pearlescent frog, sat small, silent, squat
just what are you thinking, I know not?
Still life art in diminutive, physical form
as jet black eyes, observe, raging storm 

Permit me close inspection, answer this
are you perturbed or in trance like bliss?
Semiaquatic creature, beguiling, minute,
pray tell, share truth, fate of King Canute?

Bulbous orbs reveal a telepathic cortex
images of man's demise, swirling vortex,
amplified by ignorance, hapless, so blind
inherent his relinquish of ties that bind

And so to avoid the predatory hornbilly

off hopped frog to muse upon waterlily,
grieved, dishearten, like wasted tears
prophetic knowledge, lost on deaf ears!  

( Hornbill -  Family of birds found in tropical and subtropical Africa, Asia and Melanesia.)

The eyes tell it all; bittersweet; he must sense predators and move about for safety; but I'm sure behind those bulging eyes is a brain, and who knows the smarts of it, but it's sad that this little creature must be on the lookout for predators..... as do humans... who know maybe they are wiser than us... Love your wordage and the photo.

Maybe he, or she is y thinking of the one that got away, be it a possible partner or a tasty fly when he was looking for a snack.
Or maybe he, or she has discovered how easy he, or she has it, when they hear talk of they big, loud and annoying things called humans, with their excessive waste, and waists, moaning when they have nothing to moan about, and when they do, like mortgage repayments, health insurance and other frivolities that frogs don't seem to need...
Or maybe he's, or she's wondering what that big human is pointing and clicking at him, wishing he, or she was toxic so they could like the human and make him, or her go away, so he, or she can get back to enjoying their day 😊

Tom, you really do have a special knack for rhyming! Those eyes can see right through a person! Are there ever wasted tears? I think sometimes they cleanse the soul! There must be prophetic knowledge inside that little green guy. Who says it is not easy being green? :) Loved this one. Lydi**
