I Am The Twilight Dancer

I Am The Twilight Dancer

A Poem by Twilight Dancer
"

The title is the prelude ... to the answer.

"

I am The Twilight Dancer.

I wake each day to that time and space,

Between night and the dawn of a new day.

Venturing outside, I look up to the heavens

And say Good Morning to my Maker;

Only then can the dance begin.

Crickets, tree frogs, and cicadas provide the music.

Tanagers, wrens, cardinals, and blue birds sing the lyrics with their beautiful sweet song.

The ambiance is set by the fragrance of sweet honeysuckle and gardenia,

Lush green grass glistening with dew is the highly polished dance floor.

The soft, cool, gentle breeze fingers through my auburn tresses,

While caressing my face like cleansing, fresh water.

My mind begins to dance with words, thoughts, and senses;

And creativity becomes my partner.

The music reaches a crescendo,

My mind, soul, and spirit join as one;

As the sun begins to rise over the eastern horizon.

The last dance is called – a waltz;

And I dance more slowly, knowing the dénouement is near.

Not to be gone forever, just for the day;

I am The Twilight Dancer and will dance tomorrow’s morn.

after a predawn jaunt through this dusty desert burg - road rage and deisel fumes...orange barrels my flowers and the thump of hip hop my wrensong - this poem makes me ache for a southern sky....life is so dry here...where I live.
A beautiful poem. Sublime and vivid...twilight is my favorite time both morning and evening as the day pauses - exquisite writing. I love this one.

A lovely image. Twilight can be a beautiful time of the day, be it short or long. I love it in those places, where it fills all of the daylit night, until the sun dips quickly below the horizon only to rise again, almost immediately, with the morning singing of birds. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your feelings about this topic. Diane
