Prayer to the new born.

Prayer to the new born.

A Poem by Ryan Falzon - Tymon
"

There are so many poems of saying goodbye to a loved one, but very little onto saying hello to one.

"
[To the child]
Welcome to our world.
It is now also yours.
You may not understand these words
Just breath the purity and let the heart beat.

[To everyone]
Here, among us, we have a new life.
Spawned from the love of two beings,
Their essence merged into one.
Whom forever shall be known as [NAME]

[To the child]
May the world be kind.
May your future be fine.
May your skills be sharp.
And May your dreams be fulfilled.

[To everyone]
And so, [NAME] has joined us.
In this cruel world of ours.
Let us welcome him in open arms!
And hope life smiles on this new soul.

[To the child]
Head my advice, little one.
Treat the world with mercy,
And it shall be returned.
Treat the world with cruelty,
And it shall reflect tenfold.
So as my final words,
I bid you, my new friend.
Welcome.

A prayer that could/should be said to a new-born baby. The prayer does not belong to any specific religion, a fact that I'd like to point out.

I think many people would agree that such a ceremonial speech would be very touching and real for a new-born. It reads rather like a charm designed to spiritually protect and subliminally warn the child, hopeful that this may aid its future life. It's an interesting and significant idea, although I am not aware of the many different baptismal rites that may already be in existence throughout certain religions. But as far as I know I have never heard of such an approach. In these modern times the ceremony probably means little to many, but perhaps this kind of modern interpretation would be more influential on "those gathered here today"... It does have a subtle blend of the modern and traditional which seems very amenable and acceptable. I for one would not be averse to having these gentle and plausible words being recited over my child's head "in this cruel world of ours.."

A very good prayer for a baby. I believe it is the responsibility of the parent to teach the kids to be kind and want good things in a life. A outstanding poem of hope and some good wisdom in your words.

This is really pretty. It reminds of a Baptism in Catholicism and the birth ceremony in the book "The Giver". I like this =)
