A Poem by UnendingOceans

Talk to him in your dreams
look up through shimmering water
to see his face
feel like drowning.

You expect him happy.
And if he fails
you watch him fall.
When he falls
you watch him wish he could breathe.

Under clouds and moon,
a light no one can see but he
once he’s dried in it,
shivering the night away.

… And you’ve run too far
to turn back and call his name.
It could tumble over the hills and fields
but he’d never even feel a breeze.

So yes,
that’s all your voice can do,
cadence cracked with starlight
becoming something that will be gone.
