A Take on Frost

A Take on Frost

A Poem by LyricistWannaB

Previous Version
This is a previous version of A Take on Frost.

Plodding along, an endless expanse,
A dirt road
Weeping, weary,
Nothing to lose
I veer into the forest
No path present, an unruly site,
A freedom-lined flight,
Beckoning me with the crickets’ cries
Trampling shrubs, ripping branches
Clawing
Freedom is so near
And there it is, in cloudy sight
A mountain of magnificent might
Climb I must, to be free
No path, sheer will my guide
Determined
I ascend to the peak, a wide expanse
240 degrees, arms embrace the sky
In awe of ability, clouds beneath
Breathe, breathe...
But I must descend quickly,
For darkness has a mighty reach
The steep descent devastates
I stumble, and stumble again
And again
Uprooting rocks, exposing bitter earth
Hypervenilate
Finally the forest in site,
And I, a devoted serf
Trampling shrubs, ripping branches
Dreaming on dirt roads, ignoring the crickets' cries

I took the road less traveled by,
Detour
To the magnificent mountain
But it’s fleeting might
Betrays in the darkness
So back I plod
To the  road less traveled by
