Barefoot wishes

Barefoot wishes

A Poem by willweb

~

Barefoot, she strolled

through a garden of wishes,

where marigolds dance

to a summertime tune

Walking along
neath a sky tinted lilac,

as stars wandered by

waving hi to the moon

Finding a tear

on her cheek slowly glistens,

rose petal sadness

in goldenrod grief

Reaching for blooms

past a daffodil's whisper,

hoping the fragrance

will bring some relief

Picturing days

that her heart wasn't fading,

when daisies appeared

at the edge of the lawn

Lost in the thoughts

of a love now departed,

where orchids had cried

down a path towards the dawn

Counting the rows

in a cornfield she wanders,

vertical visions

of yesterday's sun

Picking out shapes

on the clouded horizon,

sunsets remembered

when daytime was done

Falling alone

near a forest of maple,

noticing leaves seem

to change every year

Tracing a shadow

of faith in the soil,

down by the roots

when a noise she does hear

Then, in her eyes,

from the corner imagined,

a smile is found

of the friendliest way

Taking his hand

'long an arbor of cedar,

her gentle blue gaze

saw the poppies at play

Softly they flew

'bove a valley just waking,

 she with her wings

of a crystalline glow

His, a bouquet

of a grand destination,

born in the spring,

now a place they would go

Flowers, you see

are an interlude promise,

colors aligned

with her toes in the stream

Running so free

through the rolling grass barefoot,

finding his love,

o'er a distance, her dream

A smashing set of what seems to me would make great lyrics especially for an old school Irish tune. Viscous and beautiful, it flowed downhill and captured quite a mood. Loved this!
