~ A Thousand Years

Through the ages,

Your soul embraced me,

Where dark nights never

Seemed to finish,

The pain in my chest,

And it's infinity,

Days we traveled, without effect,

I have seen pain,

            And have slain,

So did you...

I have waited, and slept for years,

Now the world is barren and desolate,

             I perish with hunger,

But beauty arises,

If life exists,

Where I hope to find you…

Filled with hope for something better after leaving this world. Who really knows? Some believe what they learn in church or synagogue. Others are not so certain. Have we lived before and were we with our one true soulmate in that life too? Perhaps. Maybe that is why we are drawn to one particular person in this life. Who really knows? Lots to ponder here, that's for sure. Beautifully written, Elisa. Knuffels, Lydi**

Like the princess who slept for a hundred years until woken by the kiss of a prince !

An enchanting, atmospheric write with lots of dark passion throughout!

In one word it's beautiful. The hope and longing is so beautifully prominent through the writing. Keep writing.

Wow, simple, but powerfull!!
I read the review above, vampires uh, I actually imagined an old traveler who toured the world with his/her beloved over the years, but somehow he/she disappeared but now it is evident the emptiness in the heart without that loved person

There must be something more beyond this mortal coil. Your poem reminds us of that. It is beautiful because it contains a grain of hope that will turn into a pearl of wisdom.
