Just like...

Just like...

A Poem by Blue
"

a summer memory

"
I gave you my trust.
You broke it.
Just like how you broke my innocence
ten summers ago
between the numbers of hide-and-seek
behind the bushes
while twilight embraced the earth.
Just like how you embraced me
from my back
as you whispered in my ear
a plea to keep quiet
so as not to be discovered.
I stayed silent.
Just like how you silenced yourself
when you pressed your weight
on top of me
and your hands explored
what's beneath my clothes.
I looked at you.
You smiled.
Just like how you used to smile
during those innocent days
of climbing trees
and chasing rainbows.

You're the older brother I never had.

I ran away.
Just like how I run away
from affections of men,
still scared and scarred...

And summers were never the same again.
Just like me.

Thank you, Divya.
Very nice opening lines. Strong. The rest of the poem is very well organized. Each stanza with its own element. The ending too is very strong. It's like you open like a hard cover novel, the contents as if they are pages in comparison, containing words of a story very worthy of praise and in the end, again, a hard cover. I am touched by your contents, actually. This is a very good poem. I can't seem to put my finger on what makes it so, but this is quality work. Congrats! Is this your story?

Thank you so much, Pryde.
How sad...
I just do not understand what the thrill is that so many seem to find in taking a child's innocence. However, it seems to happen all too often. It's just too familiar a story.
Why?

Thank you, Angel. I wish I knew why.
The darkest betrayal of childhood....innocence stolen. Poignant and heartbreaking....I'm sure this was hard to express. Well done.

Just heart wrenching...what should have been beautiful memories..destroyed by selfishness. This touched a nerve for me x

Thank you, Tia.
Oh my goodness. This sounds like a painful memory. The emotion is definitely there, but do you mean it to sound more painful? I mean, this definitely gets the idea across, but the poem feels more like a bit of prose that you reorganized into poetic lines. Maybe if you took some time to reassign some wording?

Thank you for your suggestion, DN. I sometimes like to make my poem like a prose.
