The Last Page

A Poem by Blue
"

"the end"

"

So, that was it...

The last page of our tale

where characters drifted apart

and reasons were embalmed between the lines.

Postponing authored tragic end,

I reflected on our bookmarked chapters

and married our midnight memories.

Death dwelled in delays

so with a sigh, I chose to let go

and let things be --

conflict unresolved,

plot unjustified.

I composed courage

and faced the last page

of my best eight months,

epilogued by an ellipsis.

If things never ended there would be little joy in their beginnings. But endings can leave us empty and alone. It is a difficult place to be so we continue to search to fill the voids and salve the hurt. You've captured the loss and the question asked for a millennium with an elegant pen.

Wise insights, Anne. Thanks a lot!
As they say "All good things must come to an end", but perhaps it was for the best. Like books, every book has to end, every story. Every life. Each day has to end. Relationships, friendships, they all have to end eventually. We can't have something or someone forever, it's not possible.

I don't think that I've come across your poetry before and if I have then I am sorry for I am tres forgetful. So anyway I would like to say that this is an amazing poem, and I'm not going to pick up on specific lines or literary devices because that isn't important in great poetry. This is great because you have written it freely and stamped it with your own unique style of writing (as all good writers should). I'm guessing that this didn't take an excessive amount of thinking to create, which in turn makes it even better as a poem should flow from the mind to paper without too much conscious thought, as those with true talent are born to write. And I believe that you Arzel are one of the poets that has true talent :) Well penned!

Well...shoot. Hit me right in my nerd heart. Reminding me of every book (I'm currently reading and have ever read.) WHY DO THE STORIES END WHEN THEY ARE SO FANTASTIC?

Sometimes I hate epilouges even more than the last chapter. Rarely does it satisfy my need to know every detail about the character.

I love this poem so much.

Absolutely beautiful, Blue. You express the feeling so well in literary terms. It is thought-provoking, original and indeed open to many different interpretations. I have had relationships "epilogued by an ellipsis" meaning to me that they didn't officially end and left me hanging. You are so young I hope such a thing never happens to you, but the words seem wise beyond your years.
