Memories

A Poem by Tate Morgan

Tate and I

Whatever men say in blindness

or in spite of fancies of youth

Nothing's so kingly as kindness

while nothing's so royal as truth

We get back mete as we measure

one cannot do wrong and be right

Nor deal in pain to bring pleasure

for justice avenges each slight

So to the pain of his distress

whose earnings don't tell of his worth

An honest man this life will bless

despite the misfortunes of birth

Another gem. Another lesson on what it means to be human.
Always a pleasure to read your work.

Many thanks zeit. I often just seem to see the simplest things in life The joys we get from sharing
Well now Tate you always speak from the heart . With that I suppose I like that heart. Its been a while for sure. Here's to a new year and hope it is fruitful. We both miss those kids who will always be small in our minds.

My first read of the day Tate, and a wonderful one to start off with. Loved your choice of music too. Beautifully penned. Kindness will always be remembered. It is what sets people apart from others. Kindness is such a good quality to have. Reminds me of my gran "be kind" she would say when I was little, and now I understand why. Hope you and yours are safe and well. Happy Easter.

Tate, this is a wonderful piece. Read it several times with and without the music. The song only adds to the nostalgia of word, title and message. Truly a wonderful and favorite piece. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks seriana it is a bit different I think
We come into the world with nothing ... we'll leave the same way ... but the trip we take in the middle wil hopefully be one of love and compassion.
The only 'thing' we have of any value is our reputation ... make it good.
