Queen of the Night

Queen of the Night

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

So like the ebb and flow of tide life's joys and sorrows surrender To the never ending song of love we both give as much as we render

"

Look to the moon queen of night

she causes the ocean to attend her

And he so long as she is in sight

has full tide to kiss her tender

When she at last turns off her light

he calls the mighty waves to moan

With low ebb manifests his sorrow

heaving the fathoms with every groan

So you the keeper of my heart beat

have my joys attending your will

Lifting the weight so high and so deep

causing loves every wave to fill

When you are gone away from me

as you sometimes are known to depart

Causes my very soul to ache

waves of sorrow flow from my heart

So like the ebb and flow of tide

life's joys and sorrows surrender

To the never ending song of love

we both give as much as we render

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
There is a beautiful relationship between the soul of humanity and the sea.And any who have spent time at night listening to the calls from ancestors from across it know what I mean. The pulse of the ocean in the crashing waves say to us we are Home.

I love this ode to the moon and how you've clearly related it's power and how it moves in the subject of love. Another beautiful example of how talented you are at rhyme and rhythm. Great message, lovely imagery, flowing time, good use of words and emotion - fabulous write!

Dear Tate,

In my humble opinion, this is one of your very best poems. Simply beautiful. The comparison of the sea and moon to you and your love, the comparison of the tides to your emotions and the high tides and love when moon and she are near and the low tides when they are gone is extremely well conceived. I congratulate you. Wonderful writing.

Very best regards,

Rick

This is beautiful, but does not flow incredibly well for me. There were some phrases that felt almost awkward. For example, I had a hard time with the wording in these verses: "And he so long as she is in sight Has full tide to kiss her tender"

Beautiful Poem i have always thought of the moon as a beautiful lady of the night. Nice work !

Just as the moon rules the ebb and flow of tides, so it also represents the sympathetic system in humans, the functioning of bodily organs, and controls the emotional natures of men and women. As our bodies consist of 60% water, and our brains operate through chemical balances and imbalances, this is not surprising. For the moon to be the focal point of a poet's muse, is therefore natural... but this knowledge tends to place love on a more mundane level in the scheme of things than we would care to believe. Perhaps this is why the highs of a new love rarely persist past the initial phase, despite our protestations to the contrary.

The Moon is unique in the Universe... she rules the night just as the Sun rules the day.
The Sun never sees the darker side of us, but the Moon can see both!
Anyhow, that is what some ancient imigrants to the southwest thought.

This poem is beautiful. I think it does a fantastic job of grasping and illustrating that innate love many of us have for the ocean, and the emotions that it can stir within us.

The moon is a wonderful muse ... I love to watch it. This is lovely... a reminder that the earth is alive and part of us
