Worthy of My Friends

Worthy of My Friends

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Through path and switch with company skipping along the winding road I pass food and accompany with he whom life seldom bestowed

"

To walk the roads of soul strewn streets

with all thoughts we know of living

Leaves us lonesome for others feats

finds sharing to come from giving

Through path with switch and company

skipping along the winding road

I pass food and accompany

with he whom life seldom bestowed

In those who share my few comforts

won't you join me in life's amends
For as long as I walk this earth

may I be worthy of my friends

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
To all who have known the trials of a life beset with tribulation. I would just like to say the things that make life worth living are not to be found in pursuit of wealth. I never remembered anyone fondly for the station they held in life.True wealth for me is held within the hearts of those I have loved and who dared to love me.

This is touchingly Beautiful Tate...and I can certainly relate to you words and your comment...I was in great need of a role model for my son's a few years ago...I have two daughters and two son's...the girls are in their late twenties and the boys are in their early twenties...when their father died (17 years ago) I had no idea how to go on...but for the well-being of my children I had too...when the boys hit the teenage years I really needed a male friend to talk to...someone who was willing to spend some time with them man to man...I couldn't even teach them to shave...how can a mother teach that to her sons? I must have done a good job thou' (not with shaving, they learnt that by trail and error) but by the time my boys were 14 & 16 they were bringing their friends home to me...troubled young lads and lasses who need someone to talk to...needed simple things like a warm friendly kitchen to hang out in...

I couldn't agree with you more. What a great poem, I found this unbelievable. You have written a three stanza masterpiece that has a well of feeling that is so deep. I am truly in awe of this one my friend.

we all chose our own paths, this much is true,
would your friends be worthy of you?
we all ride a different rail, and some another train,
do we help if our friends fail,do we feel their pain?
altho we must chose wisely, those we call our friends,
will they help with our adversity,or watch the bitter ends?
we all watch the same blue sky, each and every day,
but do we see the sunset, all the very same way?
Our Search for Knowlege is the Wisdom, wether or not we know it,
we have more friends and then some, when we become a poet...

This is a beautiful verse.... Speaking about that beautiful relationship that we know by the name of "friendship"... Indeed selflessness comes with friendship. "Soul strewn streets" is a mesmerizing expression and stirs the heart...The concluding lines are a sublime prayer...
"For as long as I walk this earth
may I be worthy of my friends"
Simple, yet profound...
"The entire verse is very soulful...The song which goes along with the poem is also extremely melodious...in perfect harmony with your verse...there is a simplicity laced with elegance in your writes which I find very alluring...Very nicely penned indeed...

Friendship grows on no known bounds
But quivers at your own word
Give me the sure shiver sound
of your own truthful gird
for I will never expound
to see my esteem transfer

True friendship, unselfish friendship, is near inexplicable .. it stands tall but quietly, always there, neither pushing nor grabbing. It's knowing a person cares.

Each stanza here stands special, each thought expresses deep feelings.
