Day is Night

Day is Night

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

A nightmare about being alone

"

Deep in thought

What I am none seems to know

my friends leave me by the many

I am the consumption of my dreams

till I find I haven't realized any

____________________________

Into the nothing of the noise

surrounding us all the where

A life of waking dreams abides

a living breathing nightmare

___________________________

My days are raging shipwrecks

on the tumultuous waves of life

Scattered as to the four winds

upon the rocks that are my strife

___________________________

I long for the days of childhood

when friends were like my brothers

Strength of virtue crowned my head

loved and untouched by any others

___________________________

Certain purpose was my goal

no question on the morrow

I woke to conscience that was clear

courage and faith I didn't borrow

___________________________

Now the dawn speaks of the dark

closing in upon my soul

With every day I linger on

my life rages out of control

What a wonderful picture! Like your poem it has a dark, brooding atmosphere, the gradual extinguishing of the human spirit. I so want to light a candle and have it flicker your thoughts into something lighter.

Grand meter and use of words, sad, sad, sad thoughts and wishes.

My this is a sombre one indeed. I sense you have come through your shadows to arrive at your life view. Having said that at least to an outside reader's eye, there is a beauty in this, esp the first line of verse three. I really like that, tis very expressive and i am sure many who live or have lived chaotic lives for whatever reason will nod there heads in agreement. Verse four is a heartfelt cry for early innocence. And I like the last line of verse five. So many now turn to self-help books and other crutches to try and re-find themselves, or turn to booze or some other distraction to buck themselves up. The last line is just how it is for many.

an unknown reader won't believe that it's the same poet who juggles so easily between poignant and cheerful writes .. felt just what Emma did .

it just takes a little light to dispel a lot of darkness....I try to look for that every day...
Gloom and I are on a first name basis...lol
I keep looking for the light at the end of the tunnel...it always comes...

Great Imagery and really thoughtful. As always, I feel that you're a kindred spirit and understand me the most. :)

I loved every bit of us, and who can't relate. There are times when we all let the dark hold us and I am grateful for it brings great work from us like your poem here. However I am also grateful that those feelings shall someday pass and I have hope that the guy on the path (in the picture) is walking toward a brighter day. Great write.

The vision you provided of those dark times is one that I know. It is a struggle to feel as though the dark will ever end but you have to keep going and try to smile your way through it.
