After Earth

After Earth

A Poem by Briana O'Connor
"

7 verse Haiku

"

I stand awaiting

Before the Holy Savior.

Rising... He ponders.

Descend or Ascend?

Pearly gates? Fiery Vault?

The question of fate.

My story is placed

Upon the table of truth

For the Father’s eyes.

Saint?.. Certainly not.

Sinner?.. Definitely so,

But hurrah, there’s hope.

He rests inside me,

Washing away my evils

And imperfections

Something considered

By the King of the Heavens,

Mercy is within,

Smiling he says,

“Go forth my child. Arise,

You have earned your wings!"

comes a time when the Holy Spirit will enter us all and we become children again but more willing to learn than ever before, as you say imperfections washed away, baptized in the words of The Christ in the Holy Spirit, a beautiful poem Briana :)

thank you :D
Well written, but I'm not the religious kind. I always say you got to do what's right because that's what being human is, and sometimes that goes against what even God would want, or what some people feel he/she would want. We can't really know, so we just got to try to be good people. Still good work here.

Welcome :)
This is not by chance that you have penned this one . Somehow something inside of you ponders eternity . Where do we want to spend it . Smoking or Non Smoking? There were key words you have mentioned that are critical. . The words holy, saint, sinner , hope , washing away and earning wings . Somehow you penned cleverly. that there is hope and the washing away or atonement . The muse here somehow acknowledge that he or she is a sinner and not a saint . That is very interesting . There is that deep awareness . I would like to explain it plainly by using a pumpkin . If a pumpkin is a sinner and wants to be a saint . God picks it up from the patch , brings it in and washes all the dirt off of it . Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff . He removes the seeds of doubt, pride , hate and greed . Then He carves in it anew smiling face and puts His light inside of it to shine for all the world to see ...

We dont earn it He simply choose and qualify us . We became saint by His grace through faith in His Son .

You are welcome.
I always enjoyed poetry revolving around peoples faith. I believe like who someone sleeps with is no ones buisness so to is their creed of choice, though if that is what you truly believe in even if someone does judge it should not matter if your faith is strong enough. (Please do not take that as an attack on you, because it wasn't) Good write its flow is good and I enjoyed it.
