Mirror Loop

A Poem by Laura E. Aranda

Old Cabins burning fires with

Mellow voices humming

Ebony skins glistening become

Muddy waters flowing

Unfair life leads

Unknown Destiny

Tears wrench stained blood

From Souls unaware, unfaulty and

Innocent

Innocent and Unfaulty

Unaware Souls from blood stained

Wrench tears

Destiny unknown leads life unfair

Flowing waters muddy become

Glistening skins ebony

Humming  voices mellow

With fires burning cabins old

Greatly historical and realistic. Both informative and emotional. Great poem, poignant.

I really love the structure of this poem how it reads power equally backwards or forwards, which makes the message all the more riveting and jarring a read. This poem demands more than one read, so it's going on my list of things to come back and I will. Great work here and thank you so much for introducing this form..and also for the passion you've used to describe one of history's darkest moments.

this is so nice ,the description of what those poor beings went through is really beyond words,i just can not understand how people dragged unwillingly from their homes in chains and sent 1000s of miles away from home to be slaves for long and then to live a life of cruel discrimination for lots of years thereafter still i think there is hope and this is a stain from the past ,wonderful words ,wonderful images...

An interesting piece. I will have to it read a few times. I will get back to you on this one.

It's a strong one because of the reality behind it. The greed, inhumanity, violence and suffering, with guilt resentment, fear and vengence still swirling in the present.

I admire the fact you love challenging yourself. As usual, you come out as a victor. Nice work.
