Rainy Antidote

Rainy Antidote

A Poem by Laura E. Aranda
"

Practicing couplets, making quatrains....I think I like it! Ha!

"

Drops of the sky's tears descend

Echoing my sentiments to the world they lend

A broad portrait of my overcast mood

Sulking I hunch at my door and brood

I feel as one with the rainy cover

Like a nestling overcoat, the sky seems to hover

The heavens are pregnant with mist

Upon my closed eyelids raindrops kissed

The mist filled breeze whispers in my ear

Ironically I find solace in what others fear

Sun's somber light grazes my cheek

From behind the fog it's struggling to peek

The forecast alleviates my lonely ache

Rainfrogs and crickets' melody any day I would take

Dances of perpetual rain lull me to sleep

Content and dreamy into your rainy song I go deep

This poem is nicely done. Up to your usual high standard.

This poem struck me as unique in its dichotomy. It talks about "The overcast mood." But then moves deeper and by the end I felt at peace. I could see myself standing the rain, eyes closed, and swaying gently in the breeze. For me this was a moment of Zen, and a poem that was very nicely done.

I must admit rain helps me sleep well, and the gardener in me always hopes for enough of a misty, slow and steady rain. This poem is a perfect read for a quiet, August morning. Lovely piece! :-) Sharon

I love to write in couplets and variations of couplets. For me, it is just a natural and unforced style of writing...just as you demonstrate here. Very nice write. Your meter was pretty good. Off a little in just a couple of places. Very good expression!

Really enjoyed it, I see where you're coming from, it was beautifully portrayed. The only part I disliked was, "Ironically I find solace in what others fear". But altogether, it was enjoyable.

No. I don't think so. This poem is really pretty and lyrical. Well done!

I didn't notice that it was overly used so I don't think so. It must have been placed far enough apart in the piece not to affect the flow. I love the rain; there is nothing like falling asleep to the rhythm of the raindrops falling on the rooftop. nicely done. :-)

Short and strong. A powerful stringing of words. Feeling sad and down flows easily from these lines.

An excellent write.
