What would she say?A Poem by Laura E. ArandaLet's be GrEeN together
Previous Version This is a previous version of What would she say?. What would Mother Earth say If she came to us, in a crib she did lay And as a child she did listen Reading every untrue book the school's display Her tears unseen, wet and glisten Shaking her head at things in dismay
Now human, she sees it is 'we' who destroy Her eyes take in all the schemes, and gimmericks so coy While the sun peeked behind smoggy clouds so dim Mother Earth focused on her eternal future so grim As a youth she reiterated the hopes of a cleaner day But the ones around her were breathing from lungs of gray
What can I do but except what these creatures throw my way Mother Earth faded back into the scenery and no one realized that she had went away
