Labyrinth

Labyrinth

A Chapter by Bekah B

What does it look like from the inside-
What is it that walls and windows hide?
What elemental demons lurk among
The shadows farthest from the sun?
Is it icy cold there every day
Freezing the corners of your brain?
Or does it burn like funeral pyres
To keep out beggars, thieves and liars?
Is there a bitter wind that beats the walls
And whips into forgotten halls?
Or is it as silent as a dying breath-
So quiet that it seems like nothing's left?
Are there paths of cracking stone
In that labyrinth you walk alone?
Or is the ground just rolling sand
Slowly slipping from your hands?
I wish I was there to watch and see
All the colors that you breathe
It's true that I want nothing more
Than to own the key that opens the door
To whatever little room you call your own
When we all leave to go back home.
Demons, angels, they all live there too-
But remember they're lying to you.
What does it look like from the inside-
Is it just a coffin sealed by your pride?
Or is it really something else-
A part of you that wants my help?
What is it that walls and windows hide
Where your heart and thoughts collide?
