Love, To Love and Be Loved

With my fingers laced in yours as if woven, I fear nothing as I reach, towards heights that are our own, endless heights that exceed all that is beautiful, all that is frost bitten, all that is wondrous beyond chandelier tipped stars that light as if by our doing,

 

We reach with eyes that caress as if by touch, towards every crack, every crinkle we create with our smiles and laughter, every line that deepens a memory that is reborn with the sweet tilt of lips, with the sweet knowledge of wanting to know all, knowing all the while that we know nothing,

 

We care not for the mistakes of the past, and not for the regrets of the future, but of who we are at the present, the present where the impossible and possible entwine and create our love of unending possibility,

 

We are not world-seekers and world-forsakers, we are the builders and creators of a life that we fashion, without it fashioning us in turn, we are the forever that forever adores, the one day forgotten who together will never forget,

 

We know that love may be patient, but darling it is not always kind, encrusted in the sugar coated pill of suffering may one find themselves buried, with the common breed of disappointment that freezes the heart, but with you I have a gift better than kindness, with you I have the gift of our will to sacrifice, to give with no desire to take,

 

With you, I care not for sweet words, for I can look upon you my sweet, I fear not of failure, for with you in my heart I have succeeded, I love not for the sake of loving, for with your love I find selflessness, I live for the good you have given me, that I am now able to give to others.

 

And now, as my fingers lace between yours as if woven there by design, as my eyes caress your sweet smile by touch, as we love for the moment we live in where time is absent, as we look to each other and see possibility, as we forget we may never be remembered, as we sacrifice without expectations, I know I have had the chance to experience what the fleeting feeling of happiness is. For in this moment, it is you.
