Love me better...

Love me better...

Author's Note

Belle
Sappho is a Greek Lyric Poet. She often recites her poem with a music from a lyre as an accompaniment. I mused, many times, to do the same in a perfect time and place , so when I found this tune from a flute ( not from a lyre, though and 'was not in perfect place), I instantaneously scanned my notebook, recited the poem while the music was playing.

Please know that I am not a Native English Speaker; I do not have that excellent diction and I do not have any desire to have because I love our native language more than any other. I use English as a medium to connect with the people who cannot understand Tagalog. Whatever flaw you may find is part of my intention to share what I have recaptured without any alteration...Thank you...

Sappho was one of the greek greats, who lent credence to the term 'Rhapsodist', which the ancients claimed as their definition of what we call 'poets'.
We are, for the most part, shallow re-iterations of the old greats... but here, I feel, your voice, your words, have breathed life into the ancients once more, with a work to make Sappho proud!
You claim English as not being your native tongue, but with your words on this site, you have proven to be the best and the greatest of inspirations to the rest of us.
And your voice is truly a sweet thing to listen to!

The feelings encapsulated in this poem unfold with the lyrical quality of your voice and accent - they have made a very good poem so much better.
Today you are more than a poet...
You are a Rhapsodist!

An amazing poem with utter sadness... The voice is magical and enchanting of the narrator. The music is out of this world. Excellent...:).........................

"maybe, maybe you can love me better than death."

The ending was truly heartbreaking…
You can just feel the deepest scar, penned upon into beautiful words…
I always thought that, amongst the best poetry
It is written by your own blood,
It simply means that the one come written true
- From your own experience.

I often wondered myself,
To why,
why do we risk in loving someone
who in truth never loves us enough,
enough for us to stay in the better end…

Perhaps that’s the way it is,
Life in finding true love
We risk everything
We became foolish,
or madden by the mere thought of love
Either way as long as we give love
In finding the right one
Then that’s all that matters...

Listening to that recitation was like something from another time and place. Your voice, the way you read the poem, and the song in background...wow. That ending especially, it gave me chills to hear it.

Just...wow.
