A Poem by Latifa

The dusty attic is my retreat
The corner is my favorite seat
The droning lullaby with aromatic beat
Sleet, frozen frosting sleet
Is the conqueror of my retreat
The narrow moments hug my feet
I gaze and illuminations I meet
I open my heart to the worthy fleet
And adorn it like the royalty suite

Your home should be your solace; make it yours. Lovely write.

Nice rhymes. I think there's Racoons in our attic. Either that or the rats are having turf wars

I like the vision, the picture is unique. There is also the end-rhyme rhythm that beats, incessantly, like a drum in the distance. The 9 lines form an asymmetry that ensure an off-balance grounding at the fini (the end.) If I had to freely interpret it might be this: You go to the attic to get away from it all - to think and/or write - as you sit in the corner. There is (on occasion) a rhythmic sound of sleet falling on the roof. You notice the cold where your feet are exposed and as your thoughts drift in free association there are moments of "illumination" (understanding of things) that you welcome with (open heart). You cherish these revelations and attempt to share them through transliteration and various forms of embellishment (like the royalty suite). Of course I could have gotten it all wrong. I do that sometimes. Nice one though, Ltifa.

100 aromatic beats
