Sunset

Sunset

A Poem by Phil Sanders
"

Reflective thoughts ....

"

Sunset is a time for reflection …. mellow thoughts
Working out the day …. and how its run its course
Letting all the worries of your life unfold
Speaking in your mind the stories yet untold
Watching the reflections of that ball of fire
As it sets so quickly … ready to retire
Just as in our lives we reach our own twilight
Thinking of the things we’ve done … were we wrong or right?
No recriminations … no retrospective yearning
Just a time to meditate … the last process of yearning
A time to understand … what we did and why
A time to pass to others … the lessons of our time

This is very similar to thoughts I having a few minutes ago minus the sunset part. In fact, I started a poem and then I decided to scrap it because I need to stay focused on my book. LOL

I agree totally, we live, we learn, (hopefully) and we give thanks for that and go on our way.
Beautiful thoughts this morning, Phil. :+)

I think I have got through my vampire phase. I read this with absolutely no urge to go a-bloodsucking on the dark side. You capture the moment perfectly and are right in how the sunset of our days and lives are times to reflect on how we have done. I like that, but for me I prefer those sunsets in May-early Aug when the swifts are here and you get a display of the best flying ever, especially when the screechers form a bird cloud and spiral a mile high to their roost. Then the bats come out...and the toads start croaking... and you go back into the house and watch the news.

I want to view sunset like this and yet it depresses me so much. The descending darkness envelopes me with darkness specially if I am alone.I loved your poem.

what a great end of the day poem - I found myself relaxing and letting go of the day as I was reading it, so that was an added bonus - kudos!

A nicely relaxing poem to end the day. Perfect in construction and just sits well on the horizon slowly disappearing with your wonderful words.

Beautiful reflections Phil, I have just about reached that stage in life, you are so right we do look back on the past and reflect the wrongs and rights of it all. learning to be at peace with ourselves to, well written it's a smooth read and i find myself relaxing as I picture that sunset.
