Counting Time

Counting Time

A Poem by A.Lee
"

for my beautiful little boy...

"

One thousand nine hundred forty-nine minutes

Since the moment you left my side

I’ve counted a hundred different ways

And still the pain will not subside

It seems that years and years have passed

And like time hasn’t moved at all

Like I could open up my eyes

To see you running down the hall

Your smiling face, your arms outstretched

And I’d feel that excited rush

As you ask for just one more

“Hug, kiss, cheek, and nose, and touch”

One thousand nine hundred fifty eight minutes

And I could count a million more

Still I’d feel your child-like love

Just like I always did before

And every morning I wake up

Mommy fights the tears again

As I remember that you’re not here

And I try so hard to hold them in

I never got to say good-bye

And it just still seems so unreal

For you to disappear that way

And leave us here alone to feel

One thousand nine hundred sixty-six minutes

Since the moment you left my side

And all I can say is “Baby, I love you.

And I wish you had not died.”

I am so, so sorry to hear that. God be with you and your family. You have my prayers. You wrote a beautiful tribute. I whole-heartedly believe your loss is Heaven's gain, and your little boy is safe and happy waiting for his family to join him one day. Such an open honest piece. It just breaks my heart. Hang in there and take care.

Can't write a long review right now, but it's great and you did an amazing job of conveying your emotions and how you feel. All your poems sort of make people see life through your eyes and see all the great things and the bad times together. It balances together fantastically, and you're not afraid to express yourself, which is a great thing in a writer.

Angela,
I'm very sorry to hear this but grateful that you would share your pain with someone as distant as me. To lose such a wonderful angel as Seth is unimaginable. My mom died of brain cancer and the disease was a unmerciful as the incessent speed of time that speeds us all toward the end. Yet Life is so precious, as young Seth and his memory, that we do have to endure, go on, and make the most of Life; just as young Seth would want you to, just as my mom would want me to.

Take care, lovely lovely Cattie; I'll remember you in my prayers.

I'm sorry for your lost. Break my heart also. No words can give comfort. You are in my thoughts and prayer to help you stay strong for the people that still need you.
