Dandelion Clocks

Dandelion Clocks

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Separation sucks

"
Of all the homes that I have known
throughout my years of living,
there's one that draws me back in dreams
where thoughts are not forgiving.
For where the four lanes crossed I lived
with parents and four siblings.

While there contentment ruled my heart
though short it was in measure,
till circumstance dispersed us all,
too soon, too soon my pleasure.
For what I'd found, crushed in the ground,
was lost and gone forever.

A dandelion's seeded head
is wholesome to the eye,
yet when the seeds are blown apart,
excuse me but I'll cry.
So bittersweet that loving place
where pain is stitched to fine white lace.

I never thought of our family as Dandelion clocks
Between us only two siblings but lot of cousins

They are spread across the globe doubt we will ever meet them again
But our son and his cousins are now communicating on line - in an ever widening group

Thank you Wild Rose. Have a lovely day.

Chris
Beautiful metaphor -like dandelion seeds dispersed to the wind, our dear families and memories fly away. That insular, nuclear, family fragmented. I feel your tears Chris and Mine are with yours. Time is mercurial, not able to be touched or captured or pinioned. Perfect, wistful, poem of people and places gone before.”In my life I love you more.”...

Thank you Annette, Beatles forever :))
Very well presented piece and I am a rhyming poem admirer, this one has both rhythm and rhyme plus a sad little story. When i was a kid we used to use dandelions when they had seeded as weapons. blow them into others faces. well written and for me a good rhyming read. thank you. Rod.

They are lovely little mini-parachutes.
the separation anxiety can sometimes be hard to bear especially if there had been too many happy memories shared

Separation so sucks.
You wonder how any kid makes it into the big bad world.
It still amazes me today the number of people looking for brothers and sisters.
Is this just a British thing, or does it happen everywhere?
