Beyond Compare

Beyond Compare

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(forgive my endless love of nature)

"
Across the margins of this bay,
I watch the ocean's tides at play,
in gentle movements on the shore.

And white topped crested waves roll in,
that lace-like leave a loving hem,
caressing pebbles left in wet.

Behold the drifting, morphing veils
of billowed softness, cloudy trails
as sail boats conquer cobalt sky.

While gold, the bold and welcome stare,
see sequin flecks from sun unfold
to dance sweet tempered on the sea.

Beyond compare these treasures are,
so too our rainbows, moon and stars,
small gifts that nature brings to please.

"that lace-like leave a loving hem" I very much like this line and Your wonderful metaphor, I was smiling and couldn't help but to think of us women as the rulers of this world lol there is something alluring trough Your words, of course those who appreciate the wonderment of nature try to paint the scene which captured their hearts, and share it with the same haunted way it struck them, like here dear Chris, and You did it with a gentle lovely brush! oh and with NO DOUBT You are totally forgiven! ;)

What a lovely review Jimmy. Really appreciate your kindness. Thank you.

Chris
You have shared your deep affinity with nature in this Chris. The imagery of the sun dancing on the sea is lovely. I can and often do become immersed in nature's gifts which is one benefit of being alone. I am aware that sharing these experiences add an extra dimension. Mutual reminiscing is part of the pleasure. And sharing, as you have done.
Till the next outing!
regards , Alan

Chris,
Your love of nature has created some lovely poetry. Wonderful, clear images burst forth in this one . . . such as, "as sailboats conquer cobalt sky." and there is that 2nd stanza . . . one can stand on the shore and see what you see. Congratulations. (You should publish your work if you haven't already.)
Sincerely, Tom

and your poems about nature will not be boring to read but rather the opposite.. there is a lesson learned for every destructive thing a person does to nature and these poems of yours are totally eye openers

I was born and raised in Atlantic City. New Jersey. I loved so much of what you wrote. Sitting on the beach in late afternoon watching th< sun slip into the ocean. Early evening the smaller seabirds skitting along the tops of the wet sand scooping up unwary sand crabs. Walking along the shore where the riplets of waves rush upon the sand and then slowly almost imperceptively the stars come out to light up the sky until the moon rises and outshines them all.
Thank you for the reminders. - Dave
