September Melody

September Melody

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(drifting along on the river)

"
Remnants of misty autumn lifts
Sun floods our space, a trace of us
Stirs that mirrored glass reflection

Only the purr of an engine
Like a cat, fattened with cream of milk
Top of the morning, flat on her back

Worshipping in warmth
We drift and pass, willows weeping
Sweeping, tips wet, tresses touching

Caressing, a young girl's hair
Softly in September's care
In company of ochre boats

Confetti floating in a swirl
Of fallen leaves, we make our way
A melody of moments in
A perfect autumnal day

Very soothing! I could feel the charm exuding from the lines. I only had trouble with the first line - and this may be a British vs Canadian thing - but should "lifts" be "lift" because "remnants" is plural? Just wondering. This is a marvellous poem overall. Well done!

Autumn is my favorite time & this year it's come early & I'm lovin' it! Your poem brings on all the ways I love autumn. Since it's cooler, the dogs laze on the sunny deck soaking in the slanted rays. Love your vivid kitty descriptions! It seems we enjoy certain aspects even more when we see our pets enthralled. They teach us to take a moment, take it all in, savor each detail as you've so joyfully shown us here (((HUGS))) fondly, Margie

' A melody of moments '.. that one phrase is a symphony, Chris" It says so very much. You have a way of transporting your readers into a special time, place and importantly, a feeling - an atmosphere. I need the peace and gentleness of your language so very much. Superb, truly superb, dear friend.

'Sun floods our space, a trace of us ~ Stirs that mirrored glass reflection.. ' That, Chris, is true poetry.

This is such a beautifully painted picture of the warmth of the memory, feeling the softness of the breeze on your skin on an almost calm day. The happiness at the memory shines through your words and leaves the reader wishing they had experienced that day of confetti and melodies.

It’s just the weather probably. I hope to bounce back soon. Thank you my friend!
Was born in September--which, to me, is a month much too short and laden with sentimental reverie.
Old Man Winter draws near and, of course, my future grows shorter.
Calls to mind the old song lyric: "...and the days dwindle down to a precious few."
"September Melody" is a unique and utterly lovely creation!
