Socially Distant/ Spiritually Entwined

Socially Distant/ Spiritually Entwined

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(sign of the times, visiting mum in her nursing home, first time for six months thanks to Miss Covid)

"
by open french windows
they settled my mum
almost regal in her wheelchair
gave me a royal wave she did

blankets over her knees
face in partial shade
grey hair longer
in need of a style

you sit on the other side
they said, two meters
away on the veranda
on a garden chair

i bathed in summer sun
shoulders exposed
while she complained
of the cold indoors

she being deaf
couldn't hear anything
i tried to say
dismay turned to laughter

we sat their daft
as a brush that's swept away
all the stars in the heavens
by mistake

smiling and laughing
at precisely nothing
yet overjoyed to be
in each others company

This writing have beauty but also sad moments. We can feel human emotions and desire to keep family together even is not easy thing. I like how each line at my mind. Caring sad and joy at same time. It's like to watch when our best friend leaving on long journey but we know this person will return save. Miss Covid it's very strange lady . I hope i will not met with her or any of my loved ones.

We have mother of my wife also for visit here. She live on different house . It's also about 6 months when we saw her last time. Certainly it's strange times to live right now. I hope everything goes well for you and you loved ones.

This is the best . . . you have captured everything purely sweetly human about this situation! You put us right there . . . we feel the ups & the downs, but clearly the ups outweigh the downs & tolerance rules the day. I'm so glad you finally got to see your Mum! As soon as I saw your title, I had to click, as I was thinking about how you said you were going to see her (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Awww. :)
So nice you get to see her again.
I pop down to visit my parents on weekends.
We sit on the porch and sip coffee or tea, depending on the hour.
I feel your joy here.
