Duly Drenched

Duly Drenched

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(for fun)

"
droplets of warm rain
have never been so eagerly
worshipped as they were
this misty morn

when i stepped outside
on a scorched and thirsty lawn
after nights of tropical heat
outstretched my arms
barefoot my feet

threw my head back
to cry out with glee
may Gaia's kind grace
take pity on me

i stood there for minutes
the heavens agreed
this weed in the garden
she sure has a need

with her skin looking parched
her vertebrae arched
she's in for a drenching
let's make a quick start

Oh yes, I see now that you have had at least some relief
I guess there is 'Dancing in the Rain' but I'm trying to remember a tropics based movie with a starlet singing and dancing all through the tropical rain
I can see you all running around with your arms stretched up to the sky
Maybe more is coming

It has been a hot summer there, hasn't it? I can appreciate your relief in the moment. Sometimes the seasons just seem to linger too long and we can't wait for the change to arrive. That rain must have been a joy to behold. I love the smell before rain arrives, and rain itself never bothers me. It's something to cherish. Lovely rhyme and meter, here. I can sense the exuberance from your words.

A perfect and fun riming description of a feeling I know so well after years living in Egypt. The deliciousness of getting drenched. My curiosity peaked at 'weed' and I wonder how heaven would see you so?

Thank you my friend.
Ah, can picture dancing amongst the sprinkles from above after a night of cloying heat (I've been on holiday to hot places) 😀
I hope one day to experience that in my own fair land, but to be honest, I think we live under a dome that has black clouds painted on them... I've still not seen them move 😀
Hope you remembered to put washing out before showers redone them for ya 😀

This a very beautiful picture, quirky and fun being drenched in the tropical rain. I had the same feeling when I went out to shower under the first rain of May, Thank you for this nice piece of work.

This summer here was quiet tropical. Our soil looks more like dust at era of dust bowl. Our vegies don't develop full size. We get rain like one monthly and it's always big splash it's wash away good soil. At least fruit doing quite well. Your poem is speaking my heart. Cause i wish to get some normal rain . Something wet horribly wrong. This poem also reminds me old Indian native quote here is it , “When the last tree is cut down, the last fish eaten and the last stream poisoned, you will realize that you cannot eat money.
