Veil Trails

Veil Trails

A Poem by Chris Shaw

who do I weep for
those feelings run deep
yet when my eyes open
my thought trails are misted
all memory is buried
to secrets in sleep

so who do I cry for
though do not recall
vague faces and places
that aren't of my knowing
they aren't of my lifetime
so why are they showing

at nightfall they visit
the ghosts filter by
not ready for discourse
to tell how they died
so what does it mean
what secrets are pending
at night in my dreams

Being an Empath is never easy. Many times You would feel huge pain or strange emotions that You can't even express, many times You would be crying without even knowing why, many times You would be drained and consumed. few things can help through this, but sometimes nothing does by time. This one is very personal my dear, unusual write from You. it strikes me at my heart in a personal level. I hope peace and ease to settle in your heart and spirit 💕

When you're dreams start keeping secrets from you might be time to seek professional help! Mine erase themselves as I wake. Sucks. Apparently keeping secrets from me. Perhaps I can find the help I need in your poetry.

A tinge of the supernatural here. Both the Bible and history mention dreams that are prophetic. Lincoln, for instance, dreamed of walking in on his own dead body lying in state in the month before he was assassinated. Perhaps you are receiving messages from other worlds.

Dreams can inspire our poetry Chris, as you know. Hopefully we can remember them the morning after and make notes. We should always write things when fresh in our minds, if we don't like them we can always confine them to the waste paper bin but if we lose the moment it may be gone for ever.
I recall Margaret Atwood saying "The writer's best friend is the waste paper basket" - I think that she was reading my mind.

Kind regards, Alan

I don't know much about poetry but I am assuming you are writing about dreams you can't remember. I want you to know that I am very jealous. I suffer from insomnia. It is very hard for me to sleep. I went at least forty-five years, if not more, not dreaming at all. My physc. doctor said that I dream and don't remember them otherwise I would be crazy. DUH! Look where I am at. He has finally found me some sleep medicine that is working. The bad thing about it is that I dream of my dead mother and dead sisters. They have been gone so long that really it is nice to visit them in my dreams. (when I do dream) I love you poetry.

Beautiful Work Chris - the Realms of the Spirit are eternal and often totally misunderstood by the living. A truly Fabulous Write.

Love this piece....oh, do a book...please!!!!!

You are so gifted. I really find the slant rhyme in this perfectly suited to the idea of secrets only partially being told to us in our sleep...we want the entire answer but just bits and pieces and they nearly come.
"My thought trails are misted"...favorite line.

You're welcome!
Chris this is wonderful and mysterious. Whether Freud or Jung dreams have been a subject of conjecture, theory and yet whether you believe in deeply seated archetypes, or the fortune tellers reading they hold a mystical sense of portent. Your poem was so well stated that I too felt the emotion and asked what the ghosts of my dreams mean.

A sad and touching poem. Myriad things touch our core being for those who care about humanity. Sometimes, we can help the situation, other times we feel helpless and that magnifies the whole thing.
