Says The Muse

(erratic she is )

i’m with you
through the seasons
and all that they draw in
from the promise of a brand new year
to a snowdrop show in spring
through the blazing heat of summer burn
to the turn that comes with fall
with every golden leaf that drifts
or is whipped by a hostile squall

I’m with you
when the cracks appear
and the ice is far too thin
when the doubts of winter linger
as those shadows settle in
for that’s when strength is needed
i love you to your core
when your setbacks scar each working day
it’s then I love you more

I’m with you
when I’m idle
and my words are somewhat lean
it’s then I feel a certain guilt
when my conscience says I’m mean
but know i’ll not desert you
it’s just a short reprieve
and though my absence may be felt
in truth I’ll never leave

Funny but this is the second poem I've read this morning to the muse or in reference to one. I even wrote my own inspired from a poem by John the Baptist. Our inspiration may come in any season and from any source, It's true. I've never suffered what may be deemed, "Writer's Block" but I hear about it often from other writers and poets. I suppose I'm too hypersensitive to support such a lack. I have a surplus of words, if anything. I've written a lot of irrelevant junk too but maybe a thing or two worth reading. Robert Frost said he threw away over half of everything he had ever written. I've written thousands of poems. I have notebooks full and a briefcase full and USB drives full and a website full of various poetry. The stuff I put on my personal blog I consider my best work but opinions vary as much as tastes. I just keep writing because I cannot (not write)...I enjoyed the read! F.

Fantastic,breathtaking..... This poem's beauty and attraction are beyond words. One of my very favorite poems. I'm always fascinated by goddesses,muse,fairy tales and Greek Legends.

I love this poem on our relationship with the muse because it says it exactly as it is. Our muse retreats sometimes and watches us struggle from a distance, not to disappoint us or cause us pain but perhaps for us to grow in spirit and look for hidden strengths in us. Personally, I hope I never lose my muse till my last breath. I could die alone with just her for company.
