Love is a mystery

You can see it in his eyes he is ready for love,

Feeling like tonight could be the lucky night.

First date in a while and she is looking fine!

But what will he feel at the end of the night?

 

They share many smiles and bursts of laughs…

For a second no painful memories exist.

But as the night slowly withers away,

He starts to pull away and resist.

 

She wants to lay and cuddle on the couch,

So he spends the night willingly pretending…

That this current woman makes him happy,

But it’s only getting closer to ending.

 

Hot and steamy she screams his name,

She’s thinking she’s found Mr. Right.

While thoughts flood his erratic mind…

How he can get rid of her after tonight?

 

He lacks a connection with every date…

Something that is almost unexplainable.

Add this date to the growing list of women

That can’t build any emotion that’s sustainable.

 

They come and they go but they never know

That his heart is closed because his eyes don’t show

He is broken inside though his words do not lie

Love is as mysterious as angels in the sky.

Sad story of love and very well done. This looks to be maybe one of your new open pieces of work??? Anyway I like it. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like stuck in your own head and trying to find someone that wants to see if their key works to get inside.

Yes of course Willard :) That was my night haha.... it's a new feeling of shutting people out. I would say my heart has always been open letting everyone in and now it's changed and only the right person will find the way which is probably a good thing. Appreciate your review :)

I just didn't exspect it, but the visual was so funny - It is well written and so very sad. Trying to find new love after being hurt, sometimes it takes awhile, but it works out, just takes courage. You'll love Charleston Aaron, depending on your age....many people from up North visit the Myrtle Beach area; I grew up (sort of) in the Garden City area; BF's Mom had a house.....My parents also owned a home in Lynchfield, Pawley's Island area, GORGEOUS....

Rarely watch the news, but no shooting in this town. Crime rate is low I'm sure. Now in Sumter, SC, where my husband works, there's crime, always something going on. Talk later. Need to read.

Oh yea, just talked with my daughter & said it was on the news. What??? a church shooting. What in the world is going on? Alright, got it on WIS-TV, anchor is interviewing The Reverend. I am praying no one died. Oh, it happened last nite; LOVE that reverend; he just gave racist people hell; talked about politicians and others that "spew" racist language; he said it better than I ever could; loved it. She asked about it being a hate crime; said a white guy; OMG Aaron, just talked about youngest victum.

It is definitely crazy.. made national news. That is what I was seeing last night and it's just horrible. Of all places a Church and they say it's the oldest church in the South. It's a crazy world we live in. The guy is a 21 year just was given a .45 caliber gun for his bday and decided to do this with it. Sat in the church for an hour before getting up to do what he did. Insane

I really enjoyed this. This made me think about what my best friend told me a few years ago when I was single. She told me when women sleep with someone, there is a physiological response of bonding/attachment that they often get, whereas men don't get that response when they sleep with someone they don't know. This was a revelation for me. (Duh...probably everyone else already knew it. LOL) Anyway, you've done a really good job with this one.

Oh, such an sad and yet delicate write.....love the super dose of emotions here...for some ridiculous reason it reminded me of James Blunt's ''High'', no ideea why...i think he is indeed ready for love in the most sweet, adorable way. I agree with Willard Wells on this, this is a sad story that clearly had a lot of thought put into it. The last line of the poem really struck me, both because of how you worded it and by how true it is. The story you've described is one that most people face while waiting for either Jane or John Doe to come waltzing by and carry them away. Well said man, well said. :)

Whoa!!! Reminds me what a friend of mine experienced with a certain guy. Only she never slept with him of course lol. When we're in pain, it has a huge impact on our loves lives. There's some part of me that wants to say that we don't need an emotional connection to be in love, but then the other part of me thinks that whole and complete in a relationship, it requires literally our ALL. Emotions and everything else. This is a good poem. I like it a lot.

I didn't really have someone that was emotionally available for a long time during my marriage so it's scary to think of ending in a relationship similar. Love this piece Aaron. Sometimesbits hsrd to find anything or anyone to touch our heart after it's been broken. We encase it in a protective layer and keep it dormant. This write reminds me of an old Garth Brooks song "Learning to Live Again". Its a painful process but I always think love finds you in the most unusual time and place.

It seems like the guy knows he wants love but can't seem to allow himself TO love..& he knows hes waisting his time with all these.woman..hoping one will "strike his heart" to open it up but truth is its not the girls, its him..(not ready to bring down the wall) to love and be loved.
