This wildness of winter waiting

This wildness of winter waiting

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I remember summer’s sorcery

"

I remember summer’s sorcery

Melodious fields of fire

When yesterday was a seed

Tendrils weaving, wrapping through me

Wildness in the roots dancing

In the ancient reflections of you

This mirage of magic

On candlelit garments of gold

As the oil and incense were burning

Continual prayers to heaven

And clouded gates led to

Those gardens of delight

Meadows of desire

Where you placed a seal on my heart

The mark of your name

In the sacred chambers of my soul

You lifted the veil

The mask of me

And gave me a cup to drink

Taking me to a silver slumber in shadows

But the waves came by night

And carried me far from your eyes

I woke in this nightmare called Distance

Saw that vessels crossing the sea leave no trail

For you to follow home to me

I live now in winter

This wildness of winter waiting

Immersed in snow

I live in winter

And yet I live

For seasons are not stone

They are alive in me

With all the echoes of you.

This wildness of winter waiting
Immersed in snow
I live in winter
And yet I live

I love this piece! I actually love winter! I find something about the snow is calming. I wait for the snow....it is like a cleansing. Everything seems possible again. I feel the love and pain in this writing. Amazing!

Good use of alliteration thru-out & well-crafted sensory metaphors that are still easily recognizable to tell a story from summer to winter, along with plenty of heartfelt feeling. I especially love the way the title line is crafted.

My poetry is becoming achingly autobiographical. Thank you for your kind words, barleygirl.
Hot to cold, summer to winter, losing a relationship can feel like that. You expressed this very well. Valentine

Stunning! These deep realms, your poetic alchemy, though dark, are richly intoxicating. A sorcery of artistry. Beautifully sad, Craig...truly!

Such a beautiful flow of words and again, I am blown away by the way you wrote this. It told a delicate story, but also had an element of hurt & sorrow carved within. Living in the winter season can often be rough, it's like living in someone's mind; cold, barren, lonely...yet can also tend to be quite chaotic. So in awe of this & I truly pictured myself within the story of the words you created.

Oh dear poet, thank you so much. I am learning to find warmth even in worlds of ice.
I live in winter
And yet I live
For seasons are not stone
They are alive in me
With all the echoes of you.

Awesome words here, I SO LOVED the picture.
This is a wonderful write.
Loved this.

Even summer memories have elements of sadness to them, and yet when remembered as a whole they become nostalgic and keep us warm through the "winter."

I enjoyed all the magical imagery throughout-- but I was especially drawn to these lines:

"vessels crossing the sea leave no trail
For you to follow home to me"

That's awesome-- dark, but hypnotic and tranquil. Anyway, I dig your words. Write on!

This is like the gentle unfolding of adoration; it takes me to the deep, often hidden recesses of a true poetic mind and I found it quite lovely from first line to last.

Our lives so reflect the shapes and colours of the different seasons, and here you have captured that quite perfectly.

Beccy.
