Blue Autumn

Autumn leaves,

a whisper of snow,

the warmth from the fire

as the red embers glow .

 

Night fall comes

in shades of gray and black

not a star shining

as the clouds push them back

 

I reminess

as the day goes by

our love reminds me

of the colors of the sky

 

Gray and black

not a star in sight

i knew our love was over

this very night ...

I am also haunted by melancholy as autumn comes on & chills us out. Your poem brings to mind how often the things we love seem to end around this time of year. The Harvest Moon, 2 days away, is a reminder of many losses, most of all my German Shepherd, named Montana, some years back. Thank you for your lovely reminder (((HUGS)))

What a sad ending to your lovely poem. But that's the way of it often I suppose. Neither Poe's Annabelle Lee or Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet had a happy ending. I enjoyed the read.

The use of nature to convey the emotion and feelings creates such a vivid clear image as though one is in the writer's shoes. Stars and romance always create a sparkle and the idea that there are none in sight hints that the ending is not as bright. Beautiful poem this.
