Meadows with no clocks

Meadows with no clocks

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

There are journeys that leave no footprints

"

A heron hovering

flighting in sunlit skies

winged breath in angel visions

there are journeys with no footprints

feathered wings in life’s flight over meadows with no clocks

only the trafficked flitter of butterflies

only the roaring call of songbirds

how the soul seeks rest

songs of the Sabbath

no warring factions

feathering fractions

Sing me songs of the meadowed millpond mirrors

of melted anxieties drip dripping down

tell me what life should feel like

surely not this over-burdened fight

not this darkened screeching night

I want the feeling of lifting flight

soaring over worlded wonders

breathing cloud crystals

fly me over meadows with no clocks

time there rides on a heron’s wings…

This is full of emotional wishes of some possible realities.
This poem took me a million miles away from the present as I flew with it on the heron's wings through the air of its freshness meaning. It's motivating, inspiring and impactive to me in particular.

Great piece!

This is a luscious poem! I am reminded of how I feel about living here by the wilderness . . . being here transports me to all kinds of places and your poem paints a few spots with lyrical attention to word sounds fluttering in a flock. The title line drips with originality & relativity . . . I had to click & your poem delivers all the freshness your title promises (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Brandie, it's a joy to read your kind words!
And this is the place where time stops as they say. Time flies away but not as we see it but on the wings of a beautiful creature. You sir are a master of conceptual nature poetry.

Kenneth, so good to have you back! Thank you for your uplifting words. Truly.
I’m left with a want to rise above everything at ground level and fly away, far from life’s suffering, drama, war, gossip, etc. There’s a peace in flight and a silence that calms. You’ve captured that so well here. And, the artwork is perfectly paired with your poem.

shouldn't life feel free, like we just float through it...i imagine through this poem a world without clocks, but then that would be one before there were people on this earth...just water and land and nature...
but we as humans put constraints on everything...we ration, we time things...we even time time.
And nature is forgotten....we get too busy to enjoy what was here for so long without us.
this poem really moves me.

The image of "melted anxieties" reminds me partly of ice cream/Popsicles on a summer day, but also of that Salvador Dali piece of the melting clocks. Given this is part of your Wonderland collection, I think this is fitting. If I recall correctly, no time had passed from when Alice fell down the rabbit hole to when she re-emerged. This poem has a very peaceful tone, despite the references to violence and darkness. Please keep writing and adding to this collection!
