Oleander lullaby

Journeys on a crimson sky

In azure dreams I see her face

She’s anything but commonplace

Every night she dances there

Waltzing on my paper stairs

Nutmeg whispers in the leaves

Earth stands still as she breathes

The dust of my quiet dreams

Zinnia-scented paper screams

Eland stroll around my bed

Lulling me into her head

Firstly, I love your title, very dreamy ;) and the rhythm and your word choices are swaying, in my opinion. 'anything but commonplace' - ayee, that is how it is!
I read this piece several times, and each time felt this certain kind of comfort so thank you for that. Lovely write, Craig.

Ooh..
The up-down of your rhymes
The waltz between scent and image...
I would call this lulling word-symphony anything but common...
Extraordinary skill with a pen-brush...

I so deeply appreciate your kindness and insight. :)
Your words always leave an indelible impression on my heart. Who else could write of "paper stairs" and "nutmeg whispers"? I just love the mesmeric way you write!

Each of your descriptive words is like a color. I see them in the visions on my mind as I read. So unique and pretty. She is like a ghost, a phantom that comes alive when you close your eyes, Truly a world not here. It's that place you always speak of and I feel the peace of it here. Lovely, Craig. :)

A very pleasant, soothing and well rhymed piece. Had to go to Mr. Webster for Eland, though.

Thank you so much, John. I have a friend in South Africa so the Eland seemed a natural fit. :)
