The Talisman

The Talisman

A Poem by Marie Harrison

A creepy poem.

The Talisman Ride

The Talisman rides by my side

My life is over there’s nowhere I can hide

The lone crow does a fly by as we ride

A dead manatee has washed on Beachside

Only moments until I’m not alive

His sharp knife is pressed

Deep into my hide

How did I get here, what rules did I not Abide

I want life to continue, I cannot lie

What did I do wrong what was my crime

All I did was to enjoy my life

Why was his madness generated when I smiled

Now it’s time for my life to subside

With my blood draining I’m barely alive

Reminds me of a dream I had...except, I was shot in my gut...again. Nice work here. It's kind of dark, a little intimidating. But it's nice...if dark can be said to be nice (and it can).

Very creepy and frightening.

Very nice wording- I love the creepiness of the piece. However, the rhyme scheme didn't work so much for me. There was one time where it lapsed, and there wasn't really a definite rhythm- it was just too shaky for me. Other than that, nice piece.

This is very dark and grim, very realistic thoughts a person might have if they were so unlucky to end up in this situation. This is something that could happen which makes it very frightening!
