Rusted Mechanical Heart

Just an old sappy stupid love poem.

Rusted Mechanical Heart

A rusted-mechanical heart

Sits in an antique chest

Alone in darkness

It waits

(Patiently)

Its gears worn from abuse

Broken from disrepair

Loves oil spent

It binds

(Painfully)

Its once gleaming-golden interior

Now tarnished insecurities

Awaits the chance

To shine

(Again)

All it requires is affectionate polishing

A little TLC will do just fine

To fire her up again

This time

(For Good)

The key is already in the lock

Slowly open it right back up

Place it in your hands

&

Love it

(Forever)

This mechanical clock is dividing time as it hungers for moments of endearment. There must be a good reason for it to be aware of the passing of time. “It waits (patiently)” in anticipation of purpose. This poem has a beautiful free verse structure where each line is like the passionate tick of this clock.

Love the metaphor used. Lovely little poem (not sappy or stupid as you'd described!)

Thank you MagicAl...means a lot!!
Sappy and stupid - I disagree! I found this heartfelt and touching...perhaps I'm the one who is a bit sappy...regardless... I love it!

I love the mechanical aspect of this and how you worked it perfectly into the truest and deepest functions of a broken and mending heart. Beautifully written. One of my favorites for sure! I couldn't get enough of it! xo (:

This is not stupid, it's very sweet and cute. Sometimes all we need is a little bit of love with a dip of sugar and spice and all things nice. :)

i am, usually, divided. I want only the phony, rotten, bullshit parts of me to rust out...All else I
want to wear out, one synapse - nervous-neuron -impulse after another...lol.

great imagery here.

Parts of my mind call rust out lol. Thank you for the awesome review. :)
aw this is nice...mechanical is what our hearts become after so much abuse...nice to get the gears running smoothly again...

I like this kind of sappy...it's metaphoric.
