Prologue

I lost my best friend and companion, Emily.

Emily. The sound of her name instantly reminded me of what had happened, the good times we had. Tears built up in my eyes as all of these emotions started to build up inside of me.

I breathed some air in for some self control, pushing it all back.

I looked down at her lifeless human body in my arms. I wiped off her final tears as I ran out into the forest to bury her under the place we first met, an Oak tree. The Oak tree were she saved my vampire life...and now I can never save hers.
