Promises

When a promise is spoken, it is not meant to ever be broken.

No matter what lies ahead,

I promise to be there for you.

 

No matter what was in the past,

I promise to help you forget.

 

No matter what the future holds,

I promise to always love you.

 

You said no matter what lies ahead,

You’d be there for me.

 

You said no matter what went wrong in my past,

You’d be there to help me forget.

 

You said no matter what the future holds,

You’d always love me.

 

Now how come I kept my promises?

But you BROKE every one of yours…

Promises are made to be kept. Sometime promises are forgotten and we are left alone to figure out why? I like how you started the poem. Hopeful and content. A strong ending to a outstanding poem.

I think your poem flowed flawlessly, so no worries about that. I think the structure of the poem is brilliant. The split in the middle aided the poem in flowing well and (whether you meant it or not) shows a parallel with the broken promises. Awesome job! :D
