It Hurts Sometimes(But I'm Still Me)

It Hurts Sometimes(But I'm Still Me)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

I can't explain I just write...

"

Following a path

towards the misty mountain top

I came upon a rainbow

within arms reach.

The writing on the rock said

“Do Not Touch”.

I glanced around to find

no one to witness

to my rebel intention.

Before the tips of my fingers

could feel the colors of the world

a voice whispered

“If you don’t follow the sign

       it becomes a lie.”

To that I replied

“If I follow the words

       then I’d be a lie.”

My hand passed through,

the rainbow became rain

causing my footing to give way

sending me over the edge.

As I laid where I fell

I heard the voice again,

“As the rule has been broken

       now so are you.”

Through a snicker I retorted

“Yet I am still alive.”

Wink.

Boy I feel a very familiar vibe with what your wrote.
I always say:
"I'll never follow the yellow, brick road".
I always feel the bristles stand up a bit taller on my back when I hear the word 'rules'
My other saying is:
I rather live one life as a lion, than ten lives as sheep".

I love what you wrote here:

"If you don’t follow the sign
it becomes a lie.”
To that I replied
“If I follow the words
then I’d be a lie.”

Amen to that

Wonderful, wonderful ending to such a wise, yet seemingly light-hearted poem, Dale. This is a rainbow to live by and with, my friend, and, it's glorious!

'.. .. a voice whispered ~ “If you don’t follow the sign ~ it becomes a lie.” ~ To that I replied ~ “If I follow the words ~ then I’d be a lie.”

How loud can i shout YESSSSSSSS!

In this wonderful rebellious action, I see the message to stand up for our beliefs, however the consequences. No-one has a right to dictate us to be someone we are not!
I truly like this write, it's a grand poem of vision and wisdom...

A leopard never changes his spots. Your words show the rebel in you will always look upon adversities as a glitch, where others would see things as defeat. It's the mark of a winner. I like it.
