Subliminal Nightmare(The Fight Within)

Subliminal Nightmare(The Fight Within)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Knock at the door

Wanting to be alone

A thumb in the keyhole

Doesn’t stop the peeping eye.

Turn out the lights

Brings on the voices

Begging you to come out

For a game of hide and seek.

Crawl under the bed

Hiding with the monster

To use as a bodyguard

Without parental consent.

Break for the hallway

Hoping to fool the danger

By laughing in its face

With an eye for an eye attitude.

Tragedy cripples

The moonlight

But doesn’t stop

The sun from rising.

There is such a haunted sense to your words. Those feelings that rise when we're children running from fear.. and can carry on as we're adults too.. as life creeps up on us.. Both a masterful piece visually and one that touches deep inside the mind.

Night falls and all the demons and monsters wake..
Still we have hope as you say ''Doesn't stop the sun from rising'.. enjoyed this, Dale.

I really enjoy the ending of this. All the sad things that tend to happen in the night don't stop the next day from appearing. Really thought-inducing.

The sun rises no matter what, doesn't it? I find comfort in that. Nice writing, as always.

The mind of a child can create great mystery and monsters. I like this story. Remind me of times of youth create demons and ghosts to make a night have more purpose. A excellent story. I like the ending. Old sun will rise and chase the demons away.

i like the way you captured the essence of fear in this, that perceived danger that exists even if only in our own mind, which we battle just as fiercely! And yes, the sun continues to rise, which adds perspective. nicely written!
