Surrender to the Night

Surrender to the Night

A Story by Diana Owen Busy with Life BBS!

Night Controls my life,

It's a cold that surrounds my blackened heart.

A dreamless state throughout the day.

A hunger that does not subside.

It's my own hatred that consumes me,

This hell is my world.

I am not alive, but undead.

My sould is damned to enter

in to eternity.

I walk this world alone as an immortal.

A kiss of darkness has condemned me

to drown in a crimson tide.

Pain is a curse that follows,

I am the fear in humans,

I am the monster in the dark.

Please forgive me...

Please forgive me for what I am.

For I have surrendered to the night.

I really, really liked this and you used one of my favorite words; subside! It sounds so weird that one of my favorite words would be subside but it is, I just like the way it rolls off the tongue.

Really good imagery! I like the crimson tide as well. Great work, thanks for sending it to me!

I really liked this one Diana I was just telling my girlfriend the other night. My Vampire stories and poem are different than most peoples. Mine deal with morality and with feeling guilty feeling of becoming what they are. Mine feed on the evil of the world but I also try and put some humor in to. One of my reviewers told me once "You took off where Anne Rice left off and you put in stuff she missed." That made me feel really good.I really injoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing Diana.Kelley Frost

I enjoyed this piece - very evocative, powerful imagery, and emotion. Hints of duality also - which I enjoy. Also, reminds me of Anne Rice's vampire Lestat, who also has a 'soul'. Great write and thanks for sharing ... TD :)

Talk about the loss of innocence I think this just about sums it up. I like the last line, you really know when you've turned in to a vampire.

the dark can be so beautiful and without the light it would'nt be whole. what a deep and powerful read. Your words painted a picture that my minds eye saw clearly.

Diana, deep and dark as always and just the way I like then :D You so wonderfully brought out all those haunting images most are too afraid to see. In the deepest darkest depths of everyone's minds lies a beast, just waiting to be unleashed.

Please forgive me....

With the way im feeling..this is the best poem i could've ever read at this moment. So dark, it drew me in. Great job. The pics were nice and they fit the piece rather well. Keep it up.
