VICTORY CELEBRATION
The empire was finished !

At least this was the sentiment going through every able bodied person in the Resistance. A massive celebration was underway and medals of uncommon bravery, valor, and conduct were to be handed out.

And not just to people but the two robots that were also invaluable to the destruction of the dreaded Death Star space station, R2-D2, and C-3PO.

Hundreds stood in silent respect and appreciation as the 3 heroes walked the long path to the front where Princess Leia awaited them.

Luke Skywalker. a dreamer from Tatooine and just a boy, really. But now sought to be a Jedi.
Han Solo. An experienced trader and smuggler from Corellia. With a price on his head.
Lastly, Chewbacca. A massive mount of muscle and fur from Kashyyyk. Friend to Solo.

Once the medals were given out a thunderous roar of applause came from the onlookers.

"Death to the Empire ! Long live the Resistance !"

A sumptuous feast followed complete with some of the most rare and delicious delicacies known throughout the universe, including some outlawed dishes that acted on the human brain much the way mood enhancers would.

There was much talking, drunken and exaggerated stories, and celebration.

But Luke, yes, Luke Skywalker was not feeling well. He asked to be excused and went to use one of the restrooms there. His head was splitting. He fought back tears, he was very upset, but for what ?

"What is it !?" he told himself in the mirror and pounded a fist into his hand as if it would help with his feelings.

He felt - sorrow. As if somehow in some way, there was some semblance of his family that was part of that Death Star. It was crazy to think this ! He knew his past, as well as he could remember it.

And still, he felt the thoughts of another. His Father. His real Father. Not Uncle Owen Or Aunt Beru, someone that truly was his family. His heart skipped at the mere possibility of meeting his true Father.

He was shaken from this reverie by a gentle knocking on the door. It was Leia.

"Luke, are you okay ? We're getting ready to cut the cake."

"I'm fine." he said dismissively, his voice slightly echoing in the small quarters.

But Leia wasn't to be put off. "I'm coming in, okay ?" She fished in her pocket for a key to override the default lock in the bathroom when suddenly Luke barked out.

"Leave me alone !" But something was terribly wrong. It wasn't Luke's voice, it was the unmistakable sound of Darth Vader !

She fell backwards, painfully, not catching herself, surprised and amazed at what she heard.

And now she was frightened. Terribly. For no-one in the Resistance knew what Vader had done to her with that horrid robotic ball and the needle they injected her with.

But she knew.

And it would weigh on her mind for the rest of her life. She ran away, tears forming at her eyes. She thought surely that vile monster Vader would be dead along with the Death Star. A fitting name perhaps now would be DEAD Star she told herself in comfort.

She immediately found and told Han Solo what happened. He gave her a hug and said, "We're tired. We're all tired. I'm certain it was your imagination. Luke is probably tired most of all. I'll go to check on him if you like."

"Please." she said. Then someone offered her a slice of the victory cake. She sat down with it and some alien liquor to go over in her head what she heard - or thought she heard.

Everyone else was oblivious to tomorrow. And it would be tomorrow. This wasn't the end of the Empire. She was certain of that. While this was indeed a great step towards true freedom, it wasn't over yet ...

Meanwhile out in Space, Darth Vader was having problems of his own. His ship was still spinning wildly out of control and according to his sensors, he was now headed for a dense asteroid field !

A normal pilot would be dead within the next few minutes, pummeled to death by the space rocks as no Tie-Fighter could ever pull itself out of a tight spin. This had always been a problem with the design of the ships which enabled them to travel at such a high speed and examplary maneuverability during combat.

But no, he would have to call on the force. And to him, that was a simple thing. He merely remembered anything that caused him anger - and he had quite a bit of it running in him right now. He thought to Obi-Wan. That b*****d ! Leaving him to burn in the lava flow. Forcing him to wear this hideous armor, if only to keep him alive from day to day.

He thought to Padme, his wife. And then to Palpatine. She died because of him. At least that was the way he saw it. In all his dark power neither he nor himself could save her. She died. Rage built up in Vader. He held out a massive gloved fist and shook it slightly.

And the Dark Side flowed from him like an ebony cloak of deadliest poison.

The dark force emitted from his form and took hold of his craft. At once it slowed and finally stopped the rolling. He steered out of the incoming asteroids and back into free space.

He knew the Death Star was no more. Not that he saw the cataclysmic explosion but with the Dark Side of the force flowing in him, he just knew it.

But it wasn't the end. He laughed. The destruction of the Death Star may in fact be a very good thing for the Empire. For it'll put the resistance at ease, so much in fact that with the combined forces of the Imperial Senate and remaining Imperial Cruisers, he and his remaining crew could catch them completely off guard - and destroy them once and for all.

"Let them feast and celebrate now." he told himself in sepulchral tones from the mask he wore. For tonight as their bellies are full and they have a good sleep - we will crush the remainder of them before they even see morning's light !"

I find Starwars interesting, it's like no other series to me and has a lot of memorable characters (my favorite being Anakin) this was a nicely written story and Luke is portrayed well. I'm proud! Thumbs up!
