CHAPTER 14 - "EXODUS"
[ CHOOSE A DIFFERENT CHAPTER ]

This entry is Rated: EVERYONE

While Vader and Smite headed towards Tatooine in search of Luke, they failed to notice the massive departure from the poisoned moon left behind by their actions.

Fortunately for Jan, they met with no more Empire resistance. Even those people who had thought they settled down for good, they knew and were aware of the effects of concentrated sulfur on their crops and themselves and, grabbing whatever they could carry with their hands, were doing all they could to vacate the planet.

Large expressway transits bored into the heart of the city and took anyone and everyone to shelter where huge passenger ships were underway in evacuating the moon.

An electronic voice spoke and was heard by everyone. "Attention. Attention. The atmosphere has been compromised by a recent Empire attack. Use your respirators and make great haste to the transit vehicles that will be arriving in the center of the city. Complete departure of the planet is estimated in 2-hours."

"Those who are not aboard the passenger ships WILL be left behind. Bring only what you can carry. Any travel bags or suitcases will not be permitted. Bring only what you can carry in your hands or on your back. Message repeat - " and then it started over again.

. . .

As for Luke and Rebecca, they felt no panic and were in fact were quietly and patiently finishing up collecting all the Duranium from the star sector they warped to. Luke was beside himself with thoughts though - for the future. What it held for him.

The Dark side of the force called to him again. It's oily tongue snaked across his brain, promising power, riches, and wealth beyond imagining - if only he would give in to his baser instincts.

But he brushed it off. He wasn't alone now and things were going quite well for him.

After a few more minutes of diligent searching, they had cleared out quite a bit. Only tiny fragments remained, too small to be collected by human hands, and even now were being drawn in by the gravity of a barren planet not too far away.

"We're done." she said on her intercom so Luke could hear her. He merely nodded and they got back in her beautiful bird-like spaceship. "From here, it's dinner. My treat !"

"Sounds good." Luke said and leaned back in the aft seat for the trip.

With a few calculations for warp transit, they were off, and to Rebecca's home world, in the El-Aurian system. The planet that was colonized really had no name. There never felt the need to have one. But to outsiders it was called, E.A." an acronym for their race.

Then they entered the planet's atmosphere and Luke was more than impressed. While God has built the Earth according to his design, it seemed the entirety of E.A. was built specifically by a super computer.

Wonderfully tall and crystalline structures and buildings dotted the surface along with vast and beautiful forests of every fruit and plant type known in the galaxy. It was as if someone took all of the elements of Earth and mixed them together perfectly for the most harmonious combination of comforts.

While Rebecca had a little bit of Esper ability herself, she looked over her shoulder to see Luke's wide eyes taking everything in. It was clear he had never seen anything so incredible or beautiful - a real change from the giant dust bowl that was Tatooine, his home planet.

Rebecca piloted her craft neatly into a traffic column, took the first exit, and arrived at this beautiful home that had cylindrical edifices all around it in a mesmerizing selection of all the colors of the rainbow.

"Painted it myself." she grinned.

Luke just nodded, taking in all the wonderful sights.

She set down her craft in a recharging station, and, after both her and Luke climbed down, they were greeted by another person, holding his hand out to Luke to welcome him.

Rebecca spoke, "Darren. This is Luke, the Jedi I was telling you about."

* * *

Darren was a whole head taller than Luke but gratefully accepted Luke's hand in his and pumped it up and down vigorously.

"I never met a Jedi before !" he said with breathless anticipation.

Luke looked sheepishly at the ground and replied, "Well neither have I."

Darren cocked his head to one side, trying to interpret what that meant. Finally he laughed, brushing it off as a joke. Then Luke, Darren, and Rebecca entered within.

Unlike human homes that were full of furniture and technological devices, there was the barest semblance of tables and pads to sit on - much like Japan during the 20th century. No beds, no couches, no cabinets, no lamps, really nothing was there.

But it was all functional nonetheless. Light streamed in from above and was filtered by LR crystal rods. These rods has the ability of collecting light during the day and then shining at night for a full 12-hours before recharging from outside light again.

The tables were more like elaborate Kotatsus with ample and beautifully decorated pillows all around.

Luke explored a little further and found there were no cabinets or shelves needed as you could touch any side of the "house" and a panel would open up revealing its contents, essentially giving the house hundreds of drawers to store things in.

"It's really wonderful !" Luke said, breathlessly.

Rebecca didn't say a word but took Luke by his hand and gave him a shy but mischievous smile. Holding and pulling on Luke's hand she climbed this interesting crystalline staircase and they both went into her room. Then she quietly closed the door behind him, and no-one could see or hear what happens next.

. . .

As for Vader, unlike other star systems and satellite checks, there were none of these for Tatooine as it was considered a neutral planet.

While Mos Eisley was considered a den of thieves and villains, really the whole planet's surface was comprised of cutthroats, bandits, those hiding out from authorities, and only the occasional vapor farmers who were too poor to cultivate their crops on a better planet.

Vader and Smite set their crafts down right outside Mos Eisley. Two stormtroopers dressed in white and saluted Vader.

"Lord Vader ! What are your orders, sir ?"

Vader waved a dismissive hand. "As you were. We'll handle this."

The two soldiers bowed respectfully and took back up their position of checking incoming vehicles for anything that might be considered contraband to the Empire.

Vader and Smite entered the bar. Whereas Luke was instantly accosted in entering, Vader himself was so well known throughout the galaxy that the entire place grew deathly silent and everyone gave him a wide berth of space.

Vader sat down near the bar as did Smite.

"Two Anglorian waters." he told the barkeep.

The barkeeper nodded and went to prepare the drinks. The customers in seeing that this wasn't to be a common Empire raid started back up the music and everyone went to talking to each other and generally making a ruckus like they did earlier.

"Anglorian ?" Smite asked Vader in the din.

Vader smiled, hidden beneath the death mask. "You have to live a little, Smite."

Anglorian water was basically tap water with an Anglorian worm melted and stirred directly into the liquid. Anglorian worms were poisonous the world over and even ingesting a small portion to many people caused great hallucinations and terrible waking nightmares.

The barkeeper returned with the two drinks. Now while some people may have joked about just how Vader could possibly drink anything in that mask of his, he came prepared. He pulled out a red straw from his belt and affixing it to the front of his mask, and the other part in his drink, he drained the selection.

On the side of the straw in small print it said, "Support your local Empire."

Smite smiled and then had his drink. He did not fare quite as well as Vader and had a bit of a coughing fit afterwards.

Vader put a heavy black glove on his back. "Are you okay ?"

Smite had tears in his eyes and looked slightly bloodshot, "That's the first time I had Anglorian."

"Habit forming." Vader promised. Then they set down to discuss their options about finding Luke.
