WarA Poem by Liz-z
War…
People joke about it Yeah. It's funny When it's not you fighting for your life They say it's all worth fighting for in the end… You'll win the honor, the respect... But it's not… It never is… Once you're in You'll never get out, Never. I've seen so much so far The guns, the bombs. And I'm young But I also wanted this… I was promised this Here in the trenches It's terrible There are things I can't un see Faces, the gushing blood. There are things I can't undo The murders, the crying, and even the silent praying I can't get out I thought I would never get out… There are things I can't not hear The horrible screaming I still can't believe it I'm traumatized For the rest of my life Now that it's over I don't know how to survive Now that it's over I'm afraid of holes Now that’s over I praying for this to end Now that it's over I'm always in fear Waiting… and waiting I can't believe I'm still alive… Waiting and waiting For it all to end. © 2010 Liz-zFeatured Review
