Deceivers

Deceivers

A Poem by CircusNerd

We prey upon our ignorant lords

Taking no consideration where they stand

Nor where we stand

In this allocated hierarchy

For as long as we can remember

To as far ahead as we can contemplate

The days, monotonous and mundane

Etched in stone by our tribulations

For we are the wanderers, the warriors

The artisans, the wits

The bowman, and the arrow of righteousness

We may not know it, nor may they

But we are the valid

We have the Right.

History is one of my absolute favorite subjects, specially US History. it's nothing but a story of conquerors and warriors, rich presidents and farmers, victory and loss. You have told that story here, marvelously. I can think of countless examples with which this poem would fit perfectly. I envy your ability to blend together a profound vocabulary along with flow, rhythm, meaning, and make it shine with appeal. This poem is empowering, to say the least, and should be shared with the world. I encourage you to invest this piece of poetry into competitions, poetry slams, other people's reading list...etc. Very well done, my friend. Please do share more of your talent with us!

Poem is very good. I like the strength in the words. First line was strong and you told a very good story. I like the ending. It must of been a very good book. A excellent poem.

Wow, very impressive piece you have here, especially considering that a history book was your inspiration. I actually did well in history throughout school although I did find most of it very interesting, accurate, or inspiring. Utterly amazing that you were able to construct a poem from a history book. Very well done, thank you for sharing. I look forward to reading more of your writing and hope you would enjoy reading mine as well. Take care. --Broken Soul
