A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

semantically teething

baby poems in a cradle of confidence

still searching the first words to say

fingers move through the air

typing as if playing an air guitar

but diabolical diapers of silent syllables

mute the cries,

and the intentions defect from the crib of creation

as the poet grows up stoned

on adolescent adjectives

and awry adverbs

his nouns never quite get pacified

even when the lips of his fingers

find their way to the keys.

I feel so many times I am still in the infancy of it all! I have been writing and living for years, but with very lil progress! LOL Guess I better get to learning more! Glad there is someone as sturdy as you to put up with such a ADD student like me...There was a man at the very first online poetry site I used. He was such a gem! I called him the professor. He passed away many years ago, before I left that site. You remind me of him in so many ways. Im glad your here :)

this is such a clever write...i love the movement from poetic infancy to adolescence and in most cases the formative adolescent years leave residue on into adulthood making it difficult to ever really pacify the urges...
