fifteen percent of nothing

fifteen percent of nothing

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

fifteen percent of nothing

you paid me lip service

but with an insulting tip

was better when you just kissed me

without the gratuitous promises

Gee
Funny how we change, in teenage years everything accepted with nowt expected, or wanted in return, and then as we age emotions, wishes, longings get involved. Better off being a rabbit....."Briggggght eyes, burning like fire..."

thank you, Gee.

Brings to mind, "Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies"....those kisses are not worth the pain they eventually bring. Broken promises last far too long. Lydi**

love that song, Lydi...thank you..."oh no no, you can't disguise"
Don't feel bad I got lip service the other night, lip service with redundant overtones (did I hear that song again) that went on into an 8 o'clock evening. Finally she went home!

I missed you and missed your writing more!

Regards,
Al

thank you for your kind words, Al...

Kisses are much better than the talk of kissing. The implication here is that there is no logical
relationship between the two propositions, that is, kissing and having been kissed are opposites.
Is this haiku? Does it satisfy the principles of such?

Wow Jacob! You always manage to pack a wallop with very few written words. Paying lip service...but with an insulting tip. So much can be read into those words, and even more can be felt. ~Sharon

It's more gratifying when it's done not for the reward but for the pleasure itself.
Nicely done.

The hard truth is, people can almost feign everything these days... affection, sincerity, in order to get what they wanted..

a very hard truth...thank you, gabrielle.

cheap tips are bad,
especially when there is no bill to be had
kisses are better free...
and hinting is more fun.

i like this one better then your other money love related ones...
maybe you can shake it off better- even though it holds you to read over and over again-
like there may be more kissing in the future

Very apt and clever. Feels like a line verse from a (well written) 'I'm over you' break up song.
