A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

years later, the how and why of you and i

soaring inward,

i think of you in '67

and feel a temporary breath

of heaven

inhaling, i remember

exhaling, i land

inside your heart

and that is the art

of poetic imaginings

even if we know not

how to fly.

Your poetic expressions are the best, Jacob. I really loved the hint of a rhyme you gave this...and the ending.

Sweet memories and thoughts that are always with us -- but a breath away.

There is such unlimited freedom within the poet's grasp. Reminds me of many of my own solo flights.

We do fly though, don't we; and we never forget that incredible soaring feeling even though time may clip our wings.

Masterful poetry.

Ah, young love....we think we know it all and we think it will last, but it seldom does. I enjoyed the rhyming in this one...a little different for you. Lydi**

thank you, Lydi..yes, that rhyme will naturally creep in there every once in awhile---can't tame it.
This is simple & brilliant. You've expressed the magic of young love/infatuation in the most original way ever. I'm in awe of your word crafting.

you are kind and encouraging...thank you, barleygirl
Nostalgia must be one of our most powerful emotions. It can override and even re-clour our present existence,if only temporarily. Your gentle poem brings this out so well, Jacob.

me too, Valentine....thank you.

Words returned to their birth.. methinks. There are loves within time that will never need to be tattooed on the outside of a person because.. they're forever etched on whoever's heart. Incredible how your brief poem encompasses so much emotion.
