High Noon for the Bards

High Noon for the Bards

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

High Noon for the Bards

prolific gunslingers with poetic bullets

reign fire upon the streets of a dawn's diplomacy

pages react like tumbleweed connections

drawing the blood of poets,

accuracy suspect, with a spray of words

but somebody gets hit,

maybe the innocent bystander who hasn't read a single word

perhaps the little bookworm by the upstairs window

streets blaze with rhymes, zig-zag meters

and sometimes free verse shots from the hip

somebody dies a good death

and no hanging is required

if the poet's aim is true or not.

the words will meet at high noon

some a few sheets to the wind

nevertheless--courage finds its syllabic guts

the pens are drawn

&

tomorrow, will be drawn again.

good to see YOU again, B.
welcome back, and thanks for your words,
j.
Wow fantastic poem, creatively using poetry terms and bards. Politics and society in a sarcastic style from the poets point of view perhaps. Kudos for this extraordinary piece, great wording.

I'm quite a newbie here, Pleez do review, write your thoughts under my newest poem too. I like interactives and am used to exchange of comments.

thank you for your kind review, S.

two facets to this , the cleverness of the first one had me smiling this lovely spring morning... but the other one has hidden worries , innocents again having to suffer inhumanity.

Cleverly done Jacob...

And again and again.....at times though more like an operating theatre on this site with so many bleeding hearts. A pretty bleak picture painted at times.
Morning Jacob, hope you are well and at peace with Donald. The man himself must be over the moon having now ticked off another bucket list item, " attack another country"..............along with us and the French.
Whatever next, talk sense and learn humility.
